A new proposal is pushing for families that earn less than $200,000 to receive monthly stimulus payments of up to $1,250.
This is an attempt to replace the advance child tax credit payments that went out in 2021.
The proposal was brought forward by Senator Mitt Romney.
The program is called the Family Security Act, which is attempting to combat child poverty.
Eligibility requirements for the proposed stimulus checks
Families would see $350 per child under the age of 6 and $250 per child ages 6-17.
The bill is currently in the negotiation stages.
Families with one taxpayer must make $200,000 or less to qualify.
States where residents can still see payments
Joint filers cannot exceed $400,000 annually.
For every $1,000 earned past the limit, $50 will be deducted from the payment.
A working requirement of 80 hours per month may be put in place.
This includes working, volunteering, or training.
