There is help in the form of stimulus payments for homeowners who suffered financial hardship due to the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
Guidance was recently issued by the U.S. Treasury Department for those looking for assistance through the Homeowner Assistance Fund, or HFA.
This is to help people with back mortgage payments, defaults, foreclosures, and displacements.
Who can get the homeowner stimulus funding?
This fund is only for people that struggled directly from the pandemic after Jan. 21, 2020.
This includes hardship that started before but continued past that date.
In order to qualify your income needs to be equal to or less than 150% of the area median income or 100% of the AMI for the United States.
The home in question must be your primary residence.
You must attest to financial hardship and give specific details, like job loss, loss of income, or increased healthcare costs.
