Buffalo topped Carolina, 4-2, on Tuesday night at KeyBank Center.
Jeff Skinner, Casey Mittelstadt, Victor Olofsson and Dylan Cozens all scored for the Sabres.
Olofsson broke a 2-2 tie midway through the third period to put Buffalo ahead for good.
Craig Anderson turned aside 32-of-34 shots to earn career win No. 305, tying Billy Smith for 34th all-time.
Jesper Fast and Nino Niederreiter scored for Carolina.
Frederik Andersen stopped 18-of-22 shots in the loss.
Buffalo finished 1-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
The Sabres are 10-4-3 over their last 17 games.
The two teams will meet again on Thursday in Raleigh at PNC Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
