Yankees option Tim Locastro, Miguel Andújar to Triple-A

The New York Yankees made more roster moves on Tuesday as they continue to finalize their roster for Opening Day.

The team optioned outfielder Tim Locastro and infielder/outfielder Miguel Andújar to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Triple-A affiliate of the Yankees.

Manager Aaron Boone told reporters before Tuesday’s spring training game that the Yankees are going to carry 16 pitchers on their initial 28-man roster, which means there will be a three-man bench.

Andújar had a solid spring, going 7-for-23 with a home run and three RBI. But, once again he is the odd man out.

Locastro probably would have made the team if the Yankees decided to go with a four-man bench, especially because of his speed.

The Yankees will open the 2022 regular season at home on Thursday against the Boston Red Sox. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
