There are infrastructure grants available for counties in the Finger Lakes and Central New York.
Over $5 million in federal grants for infrastructure developments are available for several counties in the region.
The partnership is part of the broader Northern Border Regional Commission, which aims to cut down on poverty and unemployment in poorer, less developed areas that border Canada.
Local governments in New York and non-profit organizations will be able to apply for up to $1 million to use the funding for infrastructure projects.
This includes water access, sewer, and transportation. Grants can also be used for telecommunications, employed-related education, healthcare, developing tourism, and other associated efforts.
Counties eligible in the Finger Lakes include Cayuga, Seneca, Yates, and Wayne counties.
