How long will my tax refund take?

Tax refunds are said to take up to 21 days.

Once the IRS receives your refund, the issuing of payment will take around 3 weeks.

While this has been true for many, there are still some snags happening as the IRS remains underfunded and understaffed.

Can I track my tax refund?

You can go to the IRS website and use their Where’s My Refund tool.

There is also the option download the IRS2Go app on your smartphone.

You just need your SSN, filing status, and refund amount.

When am I able to start tracking it?

Your status is available within 24 hours of the IRS receiving your return.

This means if you file electronically you can usually start tracking it the next day.

Paper returns will take longer. They need to go through the mail, then manually entered into the system by an agent.
