UBI programs have taken off throughout the country, but California is offering one that will last for three years.
Los Angeles County is going to start accepting applications to help their residents with $1,000 per month for three years.
The program was announced March 10 and is called Breathe.
1,000 qualifying people will be chosen from the applications and they will see the money for three years.
Eligibility requirements for the UBI program
- 18 and older
- Single with an income at or below 100% of LA County’s area median income
- Household with two or more people must be at or below 120%
- Prove you’ve been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
- Cannot be receiving income from another UBI program
One person per household can apply and be chosen.
The applications will be online and have a survey to collect data for those applying.
Data will remain confidential.
