Michigan residents may be surprised to learn they could see free cash sent to them in the form of $400 checks in a few weeks.
The money will start going out in a few weeks when a $3 billion dollar transfer happens.
The funding is coming from a surplus and going out to auto insurers in the state of Michigan.
The funding was announced by Michigan state governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Why are Michigan residents receiving this free cash?
The goal of the checks is to lower the costs of daily living for Michigan residents.
The governor added that she wants to put the money back into their pockets and help families thrive.
The free cash needs to be sent by May 9, 2022.
The Department of Insurance and Financial Services is available to help anyone regarding questions of eligibility.
The refunds will go out during the second quarter of 2022.
You can contact your insurance agency if you have not seen your free cash by the deadline.
