Newark man arrested for DWI following property damage crash

Police report the arrest of a Newark man following a property damage crash.

According to a news release, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joshua C. Pierson, 31, of Newark for driving while intoxicated.


Deputies responded to a single vehicle traffic crash where it is alleged that Pierson fled the scene on foot. He lead the deputies on a short pursuit before being taken into custody. Pierson was charged with obstructing governmental administration, refusal to submit a chemical test, and driving while intoxicated.

Pierson will respond to the charges at a later date.
