The top-seeded Waterloo Indians cruised past the two-seeded Hornell Red Raiders, 59-38, in the Section V Class B1 championship on Friday night at Rush-Henrietta High School.
It’s the Indians fourth title in the past decade and eighth in school history.
Hornell made things interesting in the first quarter as it was just a one-point game, but then Waterloo went on a 23-0 run in the second quarter to pull away.
Four players finished in double figures for the Indians. Senior’s Macy Carr and Giavanna White-Principio each scored 12 points while junior Morgan Carabello added 11 and senior Jazzmyn Lewis chipped in with 10. Khia Moody, Natalie DiSanto, Addison Bree, Natalie DiSanto and Maci Mueller also scored in the win.
Waterloo will face Midlakes in the NYS Far West Regional Qualifier next week.
