The top-seeded Midlakes Screaming Eagles defeated the three-seeded Wellsville Lions, 51-41, to win the Section V Class B2 championship on Friday night at Rush-Henrietta High School.
It’s the fourth title in school history for the Screaming Eagles and first since 2019 when they defeated Batavia.
Midlakes led 19-16 at the half and never looked back as they outscored Wellsville 32-25 in the second half to earn the victory.
Junior Grace Murphy led the Screaming Eagles with 11 points while junior’s Kate Mahoney and Callie Walker each added. Stella DelPapa, Hanna Godkin, Cate Peacock and Camryn Ford also scored in the win.
Midlakes will face Waterloo in the NYS Far West Regional Qualifier next week.
