Former Police Chief La’Ron Singletary’s is speaking out about his settlement with the City of Rochester after the final legal steps in the lawsuit were completed on Friday, February 25.

Singletary agreed to a $75,000 settlement that includes the restoration of his medical benefits. He was fired from his position as RPD chief following the death of Daniel Prude at the hands of police.
“It was not about breaking the bank for the city of Rochester,” said Singletary in a telephone interview with Democrat & Chronicle. “It was about getting something back for me that was wrongly taken from me by the city of Rochester.”
He is now running for U.S. Congress in New York’s 25th congressional district against Democratic incumbent Joe Morelle.
