Route 247 in Gorham closed for three hours after head-on crash caused by drunk driver

A Canandaigua woman faces drunk driving charges after a head-on crash in Ontario County where two people were hospitalized- and a busy state road closed for over three hours.

Deputies say they responded to State Route 247 in the area of Conklin Road in Gorham for a two-car head-on crash.

Briona McBride, 30, of Canandaigua was traveling north on Route 247 when she crossed the center line in an SUV- striking a vehicle operated by Melissa Pagorek.

Pagorek’s vehicle caught on fire and was a total loss. She was transported to Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua for what deputies described as ‘severe pain’ in a news release.

McBride suffered a leg fracture and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. However, after investigation, she was charged with driving while intoxicated, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and failure to keep right.

She will answer the charges at a later date. Deputies said the road was shut down for approximately three hours as crews worked the scene.
