Brett Gardner indicated last October that he wanted to return to the New York Yankees for another season and about five months later the outfielder still hasn’t changed his mind.
According to Joel Sherman of The New York Post, Gardner’s agent said he is preparing to play in 2022 and would prefer to stay with the Yankees for the rest of his career. However, if the Yankees go in a different direction, Gardner is willing to play for another team, per Sherman.
Last year, the 38-year-old hit .222/.327/.362 with 10 home runs and four stolen bases in 461 at-bats.
Gardner will not be able to sign somewhere until the MLB lockout ends.
