The United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes teamed up with Ontario County Friday to distribute 9,000 COVID-19 rapid test kits to 30 local non-profit human service agencies.
The drive-through distribution took place at Zion Fellowship Church in Canandaigua.
“Our community service organizations really need all the resources they can get so they can continue to keep their staff and clients safe,” said Kari Buch, United Way Associate Director of Community Impact. “We are grateful to Ontario County for partnering with us in this effort to increase access to these test kits.”
Each kit contains two tests for at-home use. “These test kits give rapid results and can be taken anywhere, regardless of vaccination status or whether an individual has symptoms” said Mary Beer, Ontario County Public Health Director. “By partnering with United Way, we’re making it easier for our vulnerable population to stay safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
