Several agencies in Auburn have begun work on a multi-year process to address the issue of homelessness in the city and Cayuga County.
Auburn City Clerk Chuck Mason says the agencies are working with a Syracuse organization called Housing Visions. The City Council was briefed on the plans Thursday night by Housing Visions Vice President Chris Trevisani and city Planning and Economic Development Director Jennifer Haines.
Part of the project will involve tearing down and rebuilding the Chapel House homeless shelter and transitional housing complex on Grant Avenue. The rebuilt Chapel House would have 50 housing units.
