Buffalo Sabres forward Drake Caggiula will undergo season-ending neck surgery in Los Angeles on Thursday, general manager Kevyn Adams said. He has a recovery timetable of six-to-eight months.
Caggiula has not played since November 22 and had tried to return to practice in early January, but never got back into the lineup.
The 25-year-old is a pending unrestricted free agent.
He recorded five points (two goals, three assists) in 18 games with the Sabres this season.
