The CDC may soon change its masking guidelines.
The changes will probably start with local communities.
Americans are unsure about the next steps in the COVID-19 pandemic
Here’s what an expert thinks
Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration has voiced his opinion here. Below are his thoughts on how the CDC will handle the guidelines.
Gottlieb said, ” I think they’re going to make that adaptation because there clearly are parts of the country where prevalence is low enough now and heading in a positive direction that they can start lifting this mitigation.”
However, he does mention that there are still parts of the country that have lots of COVID infection. This makes it hard for the CDC to set a national standard.
Despite Gottlieb’s suggestion, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has warned against dropping mask mandates and COVID restrictions too soon.
