Millions of Americans have already rushed to get their tax returns into the IRS, and they want to know when to expect their refund.
Tax years for 2020 and 2021 were confusing, but the IRS is assuring the public that this year will be a bit closer to normal.
The last two years had extensions for when tax returns were due, but this year the date will be April 18, 2022.
The regular date is April 15, but due to a holiday regularly recognized in offices in Washington, D.C., the date was pushed to the next business day.
This means Americans will be filing their taxes at regular times again, so refunds should be seen within the regular 2-3 weeks of acceptance of a return.
How do I know how long my refund from the IRS will take?
There are different factors that go into how long it will take to see your tax refund.
If you file your taxes earlier, you’ll probably see your refund earlier.
Claiming the child tax or earned income tax credits will delay your refund due to regulations in place to avoid fraud.
If you mail it will take longer than an electronically filed return.
Federal debts impact refund amounts and speed.
The delay for credits claimed is usually two to three weeks.
