What is the vaccination gap?

Vaccination gap is the difference of people who have been vaccinated in comparison to those that have not. More information on this can be found here.

The New York Times reports, “low vaccination coverage creates conditions for widespread virus circulation and with that the possibility of new variants emerging.”

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the head of the World Health Organization has commented on this as well. He said, “it’s dangerous to assume that Omicron will be the last variant or that we are in the endgame.”

He also notes that globally conditions are ideal for more variants to emerge.
