NY Wine and Grape Foundation launching sustainable vineyard pilot project

The New York Wine and Grape Foundation (NYWGF) is launching a pilot program in vineyard sustainability.

Growers from around the state will work from the VineBalance workbook to assess their own sustainability efforts. Whitney Beaman with NYWGF says the definition of sustainability has been expanded.

NYWGF is advertising for a Sustainable Vineyard Inspector who will oversee growers’ self-assessment and make recommendations. Growers who take part in the program will eventually be able to participate in a marketing campaign based on their sustainability status.
