Canandaigua Academy grad Ryan Poles named Chicago Bears general manager

Ryan Poles, a 2003 graduate of Canandaigua Academy, was named the new general manager of the Chicago Bears on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old spent the last 13 years working with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Poles was named a Braves sports Hall of Famer in 2021. He was named All-Greater Rochester in football as a 6-foot-5, 295-pound Canandaigua lineman in 2001 and 2002 and was also named the 2002 Gatorade New York State Player of the Year. Poles played basketball at Canandaigua and graduated as the school’s career leader in blocked shots.

Before landing this job, Poles was one of the finalists for the New York Giants GM position. New York ended up hiring former Buffalo Bills assistant GM Joe Schoen last week.
