On January 14 around 7:11 a.m. state police were dispatched to 11439 State Route 90 in Genoa, Cayuga County for the report of a trespass.
Upon arrival, troopers located Tyler Hulslander, 26, and Joshua Lites, inside the pickup truck. In addition to the truck, a trailer with an ATV inside was also on the property.
Both were taken into custody and troopers determined that the pickup truck was stolen from a landscaping company in Syracuse. Several long guns were located in the vehicle, as well as 2.6 grams of methamphetamine.
According to troopers, the vehicle was originally stolen on January 12 and had a fleet GPS system removed in Georgetown, New York.
Troopers contacted state police investigators in Ithaca and requested an interview with the owner of the trailer.
The ATV and trailer was part of another burglary that took place in the town of Lansing.
Hulslander was charged with two counts of grand larceny, and two counts of criminal possession of stolen property.
State police say they were aided by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, and investigators in Ithaca.
State police are still trying to identify the owner of the stolen ATV. Anyone with information is asked to call (315) 253-3103.
Additional charges are pending.
