Chicago man arrested in Tompkins County for possessing weapon, high-capacity magazine after weekend incident

State police have arrested a Chicago man on several weapons charges after an incident in the Finger Lakes.

Raymond Rodriguez, 33, of Chicago, Illinois was arrested around 6 a.m. on Sunday after a report of an incident in Newfield, Tompkins County.

It’s unclear what incident led to the charges.


However, Rodriguez was charged with three felonies including criminal possession of a firearm, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Troopers say he possessed a firearm, as well as a high-capacity magazine in the rural Tompkins County town.

He was also charged with menacing, troopers said.
