State utility non-payment shutoff moratorium ends in a few days

Estimates are nearly a million New Yorkers are behind on their utility bills.

Their state-mandated protection against shutoffs for non-payment ends Tuesday. CNY Central quotes RG & E officials as saying they won’t shut anyone off for non-payment for the rest of December. National Grid says it will extend its own shutoff moratorium through March 21, 2022.
