A new Siena College poll shows Governor Kathy Hochul with a substantial lead over Attorney General Letitia James in the 2022 Governor’s race.
Hochul had 36% support in the poll of Democratic voters. James was chosen by 18%. New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams was the choice of 10%. Long Island Congressman Tom Suozzi polled 6%. New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio, who has not officially entered the race, but is said to be considering a run, is also at 6%. Nearly a quarter of Democrats polled said they have yet to make a decision.
Hochul has a 42-28% favorable rating, compared to James at 40-25%. Only 41% of those polled believe the state is headed in the right direction, to 45% who believe it is not.
The poll also found President Biden has a 52-44% favorability rating among New Yorkers. His Build Back Better bill is also favored by 52% of those surveyed.
