It’s not a mandate, but Governor Kathy Hochul is encouraging residents across New York to wear masks indoors. COVID cases are surging and hospitalizations are on the rise.
She said that in addition to masking – getting vaccinated, tested, and regular hand-washing can make a difference.
“Mark my words, we’re going to see a surge in the next five days,” Hochul said.
She and other health officials from the New York City area recommended masks for indoor settings across the board.
Counties across the Finger Lakes and Central New York are dealing with increasing COVID cases, as well as a lack of vaccinated population.
