Religious exemptions for health care workers no longer accepted for COVID-19 vaccines beginning Monday

If health care workers choose not to get at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by Monday, they are risking becoming unemployed.

The New York State Department of Health is requiring proof of the first dose of the vaccine or a valid medical exemption by Monday.

Some hospitals have made exceptions for employees working remotely.

Last month a federal judge in Utica ruled in favor of 17 health care workers that filed a lawsuit against the state for not allowing a religious exemption.
