A woman living in Las Vegas is facing felony charges for collecting her dead husband’s social security after she said she dismembered him, packaged his body parts, and threw them in the trash.
Nancy Shedleski, 69, of Las Vegas, is now facing theft of government money.
For over four years she continued to cash her dead husbands social security checks. The amount totals over $120,000 according to 8 News Now.
An anonymous tip was submitted to the Social Security Administration that Shedleski’s husband disappeared. Medical records showed he had not received medical care since 2015.
In 2017, Shedleski’s address changed from a home in Pennsylvania to an apartment complex in Las Vegas.
Shedleski went as far as calling Las Vegas Social Security Administration back after they were unable to reach Mr. Shedleski and informed them they both lived in the city together.
Investigators showed up at the apartment where Shedleski initially lied, saying her husband was traveling, before admitting he had died in the basement of their home in Pennsylvania where she then dismembered him and packaged the pieces up before throwing them in the trash.
She was entitled to the monthly survivors benefits if she had reported his death.
