The IRS recently sent out 430,000 stimulus checks from President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan.
These payments are for those that paid taxes on their unemployment before the American Rescue Plan passed. The plan made it so the first $10,200 in unemployment benefits were untaxed for single people, as well as $20,400 for married couples filing jointly.
This resulted in some people paying taxes on the $10,200/$20,400, so the IRS needed to refund them.
There have been 11.7 million refunds so far and they average around $1,189 per person.
There has been no payment schedule released, but checks are expected to go out through the end of the year.
