Families in China have been told to stockpile their daily necessities, and now they’re panic buying. The prices of vegetables have sky rocketed due to recent extreme weather, supply chain issues, and a continuing COVID-19 outbreak.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce is asking for the government to stabilize the prices of goods and also urging families to only stock up on a certain amount so there’s enough for everyone.
Some say the issue is due to tension between China and Taiwan.
There was no solid reasoning behind the comment made on the Chinese Ministry of Commerce’s website, but some thing it’s due to the upcoming holiday season.
Others say it’s due to the COVID outbreak and just to ensure in the event of a lockdown people have enough of what they need.
