200 advocacy groups are calling on Governor Kathy Hochul to back a plan that would take millions of households off fossil fuel energy and replace it with renewable energy.
This would take place by the start of 2030.
The state is currently working on a timetable that would replace fossil fuel energy with renewable energy, like getting rid of gas-powered cars and opting for energy efficient electric vehicles.
The goal is to switch over the energy of 2 million New York State homes.
Another part of advocates plans are to create affordable housing for disadvantaged communities, creating thousands of job that go to low-income families first.
