Governor Kathy Hochul said she expects vaccines for kids ages 5-11 to be available sometime in early November.
1.5 million kids will become eligible.
Hochul has expressed that she wants pediatricians and doctors offices to be prepared for what could be an influx of parents seeking out the vaccine for their child.
Some doctors are concerned about the logistics of it all, because the COVID-19 vaccine takes much more time and effort to administer than other common vaccines.
Doctors also feel it will take effort to convince apprehensive parents to vaccinate their child, because the greater good is for the public benefit, not just the individual child.
Hochul is urging parents to make their appointments now, especially as the Delta variant targets kids in ways it hasn’t appeared to do before.
