Towns and villages have almost reached the deadline for opting out of cannabis sales.
Many have already made decisions on whether they want to go ahead and opt in, or if they want to take longer to decide by opting out.
The cutoff for deciding is Dec. 31, and any town or village that does not make a decision will automatically be opted in.
Many towns appear to be opting out not because they want nothing to do with the sales and potential beneficial revenue it comes with it, but they feel not enough information has been provided to make an informed decision.
Once towns opt in they cannot opt out, but they always have the choice to opt back in once more information becomes available.
