Ithaca man in custody after threatening Home Depot employees with knife during burglary

During the early morning hours on Tuesday police provided an update on the robbery that happened at the Home Depot on Elmira Road in the city of Ithaca on Friday.

Employees stated that they were threatened with a knife after following the suspect outside of the store.

Following an investigation, the suspect was identified as 29-year-old Richard Andrews, an Ithaca resident, who was also a suspect in another commercial burglary.

On Monday Andrews was taken into custody on first-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and third-degree burglary charges.

He was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail without bail due to a previous felony conviction.
