There were 26 COVID-19 related deaths in New York on Friday. In an update published to Governor Kathy Hochul’s press website, the new administration leading the state through the coronavirus pandemic also noted over 61,930 additional vaccine doses administered in 24 hours.
“We are continuing to monitor the numbers and consulting with health experts, but we need everyone to do their part,” Governor Hochul said.
The update came as the New York State Fair continues to see less attendance than in previous years.
“We came together to help keep each other safe at the height of the pandemic, and we have to keep that collective spirit going while this virus and its Delta variant remain a threat. Get vaccinated, wear a mask, follow the basic safety guidelines – that’s how we beat the virus,” she added.
In total more than 23 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date. More than 345,000 of those came in the last 7-days. The state’s overall rate of complete vaccination is 58.2%.
