Simple Sweets Bakery in Geneva has expanded, keeping its original location at 93 Castle Street for owner, Marina Howard, to keep baking her treats, and creating a warm atmosphere in the space adjacent to the bakery.
Originally, the location had a couple of tables and chairs, but with the expansion there is now a dining room that can fit 24 people.
In order to stay afloat during the pandemic, Howard began to serve lunches. This and a grant from the City helped her to stay open and then expand as she lost the most profitable part of her business- wedding cakes.
She was able to hang on and stretch her grant until business picked back up.
After the store next door switched to online, Howard took over the location and has been successfully expanding ever since.
