Local doctor says COVID in children a major concern

Local doctors say the importance of masking and vaccinations has been highlighted by the increased spread of COVID-19.

Dr. Emil Lesho with Rochester Regional Health told 13WHAM that the latest information on the delta variant shows that extra caution should be taken.

“When the virus first came out…one person could potentially infect two to three more people. What we’re seeing with the Delta variant is that one person can infect up to eight or nine more people, and that’s why they’re saying it’s as contagious as chickenpox,” explained Dr. Lesho.

Among his biggest concerns is the increase in cases among children.
