Congressman John Katko will be reintroducing the Tick Identification Pilot Program Act to create a program under the CDC that lets states apply for grants specific to tick programs.
The goal of the program is to allow individuals to photograph ticks they’ve come into contact with and send them to a biologist who can examine the tick, its possible risks, and offer advice on how to handle the situation to the individual.
Katko is also trying to get increased funding for the CDC to be able to collect more data and research for tick-borne illnesses.
These effort combined will work to educate about tick-borne illnesses as well as teach ways to handle and prevent them.
