Representative John Katko gave an updated timeline for the Interstate 81 project during a town hall meeting over the phone Monday evening.
He said in a meeting with the administrator of the Federal Highway Administration a few weeks ago, they discussed the graft environmental statement that outlines the details of the project.
The statement is expected to be released for review by the public this month to allow a public comment period.
Katko did not say how long that might be but mentioned 45 days as a possibility.
Decisions should come from the Federal Highway Administration in early 2022.
