Over 10,000 tickets were issued in New York during the 4th of July weekend

Over 10,000 tickets were issued by state police over the 4th of July weekend.

Governor Cuomo released the statistics using the time period of Friday, July 2nd through Monday, July 5th.

10,238 tickets were released in total and 195 arrests were made for DWI. 648 crashes were investigated and two deaths were a result of motor vehicle crashes. Troopers focused on speeding, aggressive drivers, and drivers on their phones.


During the pandemic there were 8,214 tickets and 180 DWI arrests. That timeline was one day shorter.

The statistics in Central New York showed Troopers made 16 DWI arrests and gave out 847 tickets. In the Finger Lakes Region 17 arrests for DWI were made and 1,070 tickets were given. The Capital Region had 838 tickets given and 11 DWI arrests were made.
