New York families that participate in the WIC Program will be able to purchase more fruits and vegetables between June 1 and September 30, 2021.
The federal American Rescue Plan Act has funded the temporary increase in benefits to create more options for families in need of healthy food after challenges the pandemic presented. 300,000 women and children will now be able to access additional fruits and vegetables during the time period.
The increase will give women $35 a month for each eligible child and woman during the 4 months, an increase of $9 per child and $11 per pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding woman.
