New York State isn’t lifting the mask mandate for schools just yet.
While state Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker wrote a letter to the CDC expressing concerns about the difference in mask guidelines between schools and summer camps- the part about schools waiving the mask rule effective this week were downplayed.
State officials haven’t provided an update since, but noted that the old guidance would continue to apply until new, official guidance was received.
The CDC is being given more time to address the matters brought forward by the state’s health department.
