Mets, Yankees to offer vaccinated sections at full capacity starting May 19

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo had a big announcement regarding both the Mets and Yankees on Wednesday, saying that full capacity seating at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium will be available for fully vaccinated people.

Beginning May 19, vaccinated sections will be coming to both ballparks, where patrons with a valid COVID-19 vaccination card will be allowed to sit in normal, non-social distanced seating, though masks are still required.

For unvaccinated people, the capacity will be 33 percent in their own sections to comply with CDC social distancing rules.

Furthermore, both teams are “doing away” with needing a negative COVID-19 test to enter ballgames on the May 19 date as well.

The 33 percent capacity increase was announced by Cuomo late last week. At Citi Field, 33 percent would be roughly 14,000 people, while Yankee Stadium would be roughly 18,000.

Vaccines will continue to be available at ballparks, and anyone who gets vaccinated will get a free game ticket.
