HUD closes investigation into Geneva Housing Authority, says complaint wasn’t filed within necessary timeline

The HUD investigation into allegations that employees of the Geneva Housing Authority discriminated against a local resident has been closed.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development closed its investigation into allegations by Melinda Robinson that GHA employees discriminated against her, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

HUD’s ruling indicated that the complaint was not filed within the required time frame.

Robinson alleged that she was discriminated against on the basis of race. Several employees were named in the complaint including Housing Authority director Andy Tyman. It claimed that she was subject to different terms and conditions in service, and that various housing opportunities were not made available to her, and that landlords were coerced to not rent to her.

HUD’s ruling ultimately stated that none of the claims Robinson made occurred on or after February 11, 2020.
