Seneca Falls looks to begin organic waste program

The Town of Seneca Falls has begun looking toward the future with a program that would eliminate organic waste from the garbage chain.  The program involves having specially designated garbage totes placed strategically throughout the town.  Totes would be for organic waste only.  They would be emptied weekly, with the waste taken away to be used for composting and as an energy source.

The town’s Waste Management Advisory Committee has created two surveys, one for residents and one for commercial producers of organic waste.  This would include restaurants, florists, and food stores.  The short online surveys will be used to gauge interest in the program, as well as determine what support would be needed to make it successful.

The surveys can be found on the town’s website at senecafalls.com.
