A new state bill would decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms in New York.
That legislation was introduced by Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal.
It would change the state rules by decriminalizing the two main ingredients in mushrooms; psilocybin and psilocin. This would happen by removing them from the controlled substances list.
Supporters of the bill say that those items can help treat people with mental health conditions. This bill has been proposed before, but failed to get through.
