The final week of regular season games got underway on Monday in the Finger Lakes East & West leagues with plenty on the line. Some teams needed wins to improve their chance at a top 8 seed in their classification which included a ticket into the postseason. Other teams needed wins as they are vying for a top seed in their classification which would mean home field advantage through the sectional championship game.
The most anticipated game of the night featured two unbeaten teams from the Finger Lakes West girls league. South Seneca handed the Dundee Lady Scots their first loss of the season with an 11-point victory at the Jack Guinan Gymnasium in Ovid. The win moves Coach Charity Couch’s squad to 9-0 on the season and all but locks up the #1 seed in Class D1.
It’s over from Ovid. The South Seneca Falcons(9-0, 8-0) defeat the Dundee/Bradford Scotsmen(6-1, 6-1) by final score of 53-42 on Monday night in battle of undefeated teams @SouthSenecaCSD pic.twitter.com/uZoJ9IS2Je

In boys action, Mynderse defeated Marcus Whitman in an entertaining game in Seneca Falls with both teams needing hard fought sectional points from a relentless Finger Lakes East schedule. Mynderse held of the Wildcats for a 54-49 win and currently rank as the #5 seed in Class B2. Whitman sits at the #6 seed in Class C1.
The HAC Wolves took sole possession of first place in the Finger Lakes West boys league with a win at home over Red Jacket. HAC currently is locked in as #2 seed in Class C2. Also in the West on Monday night, a coaching milestone was reached in Dundee as the longtime Scots head coach Les Miller recorded his 200th career win…

Some unfortunate news came down on Monday night that serves as a reminder this short season of high school basketball is still being contested during pandemic conditions. The Mynderse Academy vs. Midlakes girls game scheduled in Clifton Springs was cancelled as the Mynderse program has been forced to quarantine for 10 days due to Covid-19 concerns, effectively ending their season.
On Tuesday night, the Wayne County boys and girls championship tournament moves into the semifinal round with some great match-ups on tap. Look for the schedule and live stream links below or tune into W-FL High School Basketball Game Night Live on FingerLakes1.com beginning at 7:30 pm.
