Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday that the state did not cover up deaths at nursing homes during the coronavirus pandemic, but should have moved more quickly to release some information sought by lawmakers, the public, and press.
It’s the closest thing to an acknowledgment that Gov. Cuomo has offered to date about his administration’s handling of the pandemic.
“All the deaths in the nursing homes and hospitals were always fully, publicly and accurately reported,” Cuomo said. “We should have done a better job of providing as much information as we could as quickly as we could,” he continued. “No excuses: I accept responsibility for that.”
