Republicans back Milby for sheriff in Wayne County, two other candidates in the mix though

There will be a new sheriff in town when 2022 arrives.

Last year Barry Virts said he would not seek re-election in Wayne County.

The county’s Republican and Conservative committees recently met – backing Lt. Rob Milby. At the session, the Finger Lakes Times reports that Milby received 74% of Republican backing, and 85% of Conservative backing.

They took a vote at the sessions because other candidates are in the running for the post.

Macedon Police Department Sgt. Steve MacNeal has a campaign website set up. Criminal Justice Professor Rich Martin, who is a former Newark and Rochester police officer, also has a campaign website set up.
